Fishing in Delacroix Louisiana can be a blast any time of year, but if you’re looking to target redfish and speckled trout specifically, then fishing inshore in May is the way to go. Redfish have made their transition and are now active on the edges of the Delacroix marsh. The reds have been eating white shrimp, crabs and bull minnows. The redfish are also schooling up in the deep channels and on the flats. You can catch them on live bait, but artificial work just as good. Soft plastics such as Vudu shrimp, DOA CAL and Z-Man swim baits work great.

Speckled trout fishing has been red hot inshore. The specks have been eating live bait, but they will also hit lures. MirrOlure soft plastics such as the 52M, Catch 2000 and Lil John work great. You can also use topwater lures such as the Heddon Super Spook Jr and the Rapala Skitter Walk. The trout are also hitting live bait such as shrimp and minnows.

So guys the fishing has been absolutely incredible! The fish of shown up big numbers on the edges. From Redfish to Speckled trout and a ton bull Reds. You never know what you’re gonna catch and don’t let me forget about the sheephead. They Seem like they’re everywhere and in every spot. The Mississippi River is high but the fresh water staying out in the Gulf . We have green water on the edges of the marsh that creates a salty atmosphere for these fish to thrive . They are defiantly in a feeding mode. 90% of our fish are being caught on current points with hard current. Live Bait has been The Choice but we also catching on plastics, 3″ swim shads and soft shrimp have been two of our favorites. Covid19 has made a change though, alot of people will not travel right now but locals dont have to and can still fish. We are running a special for $500 per boat Up to 4 anglers for anyone that comes down. If you can get down and experience the best Louisiana fishing has to offer . The fishing will only get better As the shrimp arrive and the pogeys show up. Where we find the shrimp we will find speckled trout and where we find pogies will find huge numbers of Redfish. Because of the covid19 alot of our customers have moved from the Spring to the fall. Which is filling our books fast for the fall . If you plan on booking a trip in the fall now is the time to get it on the books before we fill up. This should be a year for the record books with every species being in big numbers. March is looking to be a really good month of fishing.Temperature of it have been above normal all Winter long we didn’t even get to freezing this year . So with that said the redfish never really went into a winter pattern. We have been catching them in the Spring and fall pattern all year long which is going to kick off the Spring run even sooner than normal. The bait will grow at a rapid rate due the warm weather and will make its move earlier than usual .

We should she a good number of bull reds Chasing the mullet to the inside. On light wind days with big moons we’ve seen great size and number on our speckled trout. Slot redfish a been a big schools, so it’s been a game of covering ground to find them but when you do find them it’s like hitting pay dirt one after another. This time of the year were allowed to throw just about anything we want when we see tailing redfish and you can’t go wrong with live bait. Speckled trout will get swim baits under a corker or on the bottom or live bait under cork.
