South Louisiana Fishing: A Trip of a Lifetime
The fishing in south Louisiana is incredible right now. If you’re an avid fisherman, now is the time to book your dream trip because you won’t want to miss out on the amazing opportunity in front of you. From bull Reds to Black Drum and Speckled Trout, there are plenty of incredible catches to be had!
Bull Reds have been all over the edges of the Gulf of Mexico with some points producing twenty to thirty fish each. There have also been a bunch of sheepshead mixed in with these big fish. To capitalize on this opportunity, use live shrimp or artificial lures like jigs and soft plastics that drift along the bottom for best results.
In addition to the Bull Red bite, we’ve seen huge numbers of eating size redfish and black drum showing up in the marsh recently. These fish have been really aggressive and should stay around through March and April. If you want to target these species, try using live shrimp near oyster beds or other shallow structures like grass beds or rocks.
The Speckled Trout bite has also been good recently but should get even better as the shrimp population thickens in March and April. Live shrimp will be a great go-to bait for Speckled Trout during this time but don’t forget about 3 inch soft plastics too – they can be effective when used properly!
South Louisiana is currently experiencing some incredible fishing conditions so if you’re an avid fisherman looking for a trip of a lifetime, now is definitely the time to book it! Whether it’s Bull Redfish or Speckled Trout, there are plenty of opportunities out there for you to capitalize on so what are you waiting for? Get out there and take advantage before it’s too late!
